Welcome to JNC's Aged & Disability Services

JNC's Aged and Disability Programme provides a range of services to support frail older people, people with a disability and their carer, living in the Randwick LGA. Below is a full list of our services. Please feel free to call us for more information.

NEW! NEW! - Broadband For Seniors Internet Kiosk

The new internet kiosk offers the opportunity for older people to discover how the web can play a great part in helping them to stay in touch with friends and family, along with offering access to the wealth of information available online. We have two computers with broadband access and we are also providing training, so beginners are very welcome!
This service is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. Please contact JNC on 9349 8200 or info@jnc.org.au to book your kiosk time. Please also advise if you require the assistance of a personal tutor.

Social Group Shopping - Fortnightly on Monday mornings

This is a fortnightly service operating on Monday mornings to Eastgardens (9am to 1 pm). Each client will have a volunteer to accompany them around the shopping centre and assist as needed for two hours, before we take everybody back home. We hope people will take the opportunity not only to do grocery shopping but to use the full resources of the shopping centre including the library, and that people on the bus and volunteers will spend some time together having a coffee and catching up. Clients will be able to take two small bags home on the bus, with the rest of their shopping home delivered, and will be helped to get their shopping into their homes.

Short Outing Group - Friday mornings

This service has two groups operating on a fortnighty basis, from 9am - 1pm, during school terms. Outings have included: Fox Studios Farmers Market, Pyrmont Fish Markets, Gymea Village, The Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Fish Market and Government House. We plan to visit some local picnic spots for morning teas as well as some new venues.

Day Away Groups - Tuesdays all day

Day Away Group is a full day outing, with a drive to interesting locations and lunch at a club. This service has two groups operating on a fortnightly basis during school term only. These trips start from 9am and everyone is home by 3pm.

Coffee Group

Join 1 or 2 others for morning tea out at local venues.

Individual Social Support

Individual assistance with shopping or going out in the local community. A worker takes the client out for 2 hours in a car and assists with shopping or other outings in the community. This service is for people who cannot go on a bus to do their shopping or who need extra support or assistance. In some cases social support is with a volunteer who may take a person out, help with shopping or visit in the home.

Phone Support

This service is for clients who would like some one to call them by phone on a weekly basis for a friendly chat. We have two volunteers who come in Tuesday and Thursday mornings to call people on the Phone Support programme.

In-Home Respite Care

Provides carers of frail aged people in the Randwick LGA with a 3 to 4 hour break per week. We supply a paid worker to be with the client in their home while the carer has a break. We can also take the person out for short trips locally and provide companionship and care.

Information Support Services

We provide a range of information resources to assist older people and their carers. These include:

Home Deliveries Directory

This useful resource provides contacts for all types of services that home deliver in the randwick Local Government Area (eg. groceries, medicines, hairdressing, x-rays and more).

Information Brochures

Our self published brochures provide general information as well as information specific to residents of Sydney and the Eastern Suburbs. Brochures include:

  • Food and Shopping Assistance
  • Transport Assistance
  • Domestic Assistance and Personal Care at home
  • Residential Aged Care - Low & High Level Care
  • Respite and Day Care Options

Individual Information

Our Information service is available to assist you in finding the services to suit your needs. If you are a carer, someone needing care or know of a friend or relative needing help, give us a call or drop into our shopfront. We can compile an individual information package to suit your needs.
